Hartford man accused of killing man caught in Vermont. HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) – A Hartford man accused of shooting and killing another man in Hartford was captured in Vermont.

Officers responded to Wethersfield Avenue at Elliott Street on Oct. 21 just before 4 a.m. for the report of a person shot. The victim, identified as 54-year-old Raymond Lewis, was brought to a hospital, where he died from his injuries. Hartford police secured an arrest warrant for Shawn Santoro. On Nov. 17, members of the U.S. Marshal Violent task force from Connecticut and Vermont, along with Hartford police, tracked Santoro to a secluded home on Bemis Road in Vernon, Vermont, where he was taken into custody. Authorities also found a 9 mm. Ruger handgun that was stolen in Connecticut. He is being held as a fugitive from justice and remains in the custody of Vermont State Police awaiting extradition.
